Accommodation at Cliff Lodge comprises of four stylish rooms. They are individually decorated and have every comfort – hairdryers, fluffy gowns, aromatherapy toiletries and satellite televisions. Our rooms are non-smoking, but smokers are welcome to use the outside patios.
The North room is our sea-front room - a stone's throw from the ocean with a breathtaking sea and mountain view. It is light and roomy, with comfortable armchairs that look onto one of the best ocean views in the world! Double doors open onto a sea-front deck where you can relax in a deck chair while you watch whales play just meters from you. The en-suite bathroom has a separate bath and shower.
The South room is a light and airy double room (queen-size bed) with crisp white linen and Zen simplicity. The private outside patio looks on to the mountains of the Cape peninsula and the rocky seashore of De Kelders. Steps lead down past the splash pool and onto the cliffs. The en-suite bathroom has a shower over bath.
The East room has been decorated in a colonial style , with a beige and black colour scheme. It has twin beds or a king size bed, depending on what you prefer. This room opens on to a wooden deck that over looks an aloe garden and the spectacular coastline of Walker Bay and the nature reserve. The en-suite bathroom has a shower over bath. The Ocean Suite is the ultimate sea front sanctuary! This spacious luxurious penthouse suite has a sea front bedroom, separate lounge with wonderful ocean views and a spacious private balcony. The suite has unsurpassed views over Walker Bay and towards Cape Point. It is the ultimate whale watching spot, with 180degree sea views. The Ocean Suite is stylish and luxurious, with original South African art and every modern comfort. There is a well-stocked mini bar, tea and coffee station, satellite television and CD player. The romantic king size bed has luxurious cotton linen and overlooks one of the most beautiful views in the world. The en-suite Travertine tiled bathroom has a separate shower and two-person bath. The spacious private balcony is the ideal place to watch the sunset over the ocean or to star gaze and spot the Southern Cross at night. The all-weather conservatory and sea front deck have spectacular 180-degree views. This is the perfect spot to sample our local wines while watching the whales bask in the last light of the setting sun. The small splash pool has the ideal location, right on the cliff top overlooking the sea.
Directions From Cape Town to De Kelders.
Travel east along the N2 from Cape Town for about 30 minutes and you'll find yourself at the foot of the Hottentots-Holland mountains. Sir Lowry's Pass takes you over the mountains and then you travel through the Elgin Valley filled with orchards, forests and roses for half an hour. The Houw Hoek Pass takes you down into the Overberg. At the bottom of the pass you take the turn-off to Hermanus. Travel towards the ocean over the Bot River lagoon. After 20 minutes you will get to Hermanus. Travel through the town following the signs to Stanford. Stanford is 20 minutes from Hermanus along the R43. Continue past Stanford towards Gansbaai and after 10 minutes you will see the turn off to De Kelders.
From the Garden Route to De Kelders.
Travel along the N2 towards Cape Town through the undulating farm fields to Riviersonderend. When you reach Riviersonderend you turn left onto the R356 and travel for 25 minutes until you reach the village of Stanford. Turn left towards Gansbaai on the R43. After about 10 minutes you will see the turn off to De Kelders.
To Cliff Lodge
Turn off the R43 towards the sea at De Kelders. Take the third road right into De Villiers, first left into Kayser which takes you right down to Cliff Street and the sea. Turn right into Cliff Street and look for number 6 on your left hand side.
