Summerwood, situated in the beautiful university town of Stellenbosch, is nestled between mountains and rivers and is the perfect base from which to explore the winelands, Cape Town and its spectacular surroundings.
This unique Stellenbosch winelands mansion, originally built in 1904, was designed by an Italian architect and has been lovingly restored to meet the demands of the modern traveler. Summerwood Guest House is set in a spectacular garden featuring a great variety of indigenous plants. Our friendly staff can advise you on all of the highlights in and around the cape winelands. We will also happily organize activities in the Stellenbosch village and surrounding areas such as guided wine tours, hiking tours, transfers, golf, day tours and packages and we can even host your winelands wedding and organise the details of your special day.

The historic town of Stellenbosch, the second oldest in South Africa, developed from a colony of settlers to whom land had been granted on the bank of the Eerste River. The name Stellenbosch was given by Governor Simon van der Stel who in 1697 encamped there with his entourage. The avenues of oaks are lined with Cape Dutch, Georgian and modern Victorian architecture of which many are now national monuments and are jealously guarded for future generations.

| Over the years Stellenbosch has grown into a vast academic and cultural centre. Its internationally acclaimed university draws thousands of students annually and the flourishing wine industry takes visitors along the wine route to celebrated cellars.

Summerwood is ideal for small, intimate weddings for no more than 18 people where exclusivity can be offered to you and your wedding party. The garden is idyllic, the weather almost certainly sunny and you are sure to have some extra guests in the form of the garden birds and squirrels.

Accommodation comprises of 9 spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, tastefully decorated to provide warmth and relaxation that only a home can satisfy.
All rooms are equipped with the necessary modern conveniences (crisp percale linen, TV with M-Net, air-conditioning, bar fridge, heating, ceiling fans, safe and telephone) and off street secure parking is available.
Broadband internet access and secretarial services are available at reception and separate business work space is provided for our corporate guests.
DirectionsDirections to Summerwood from Airport. PLEASE NOTE: The street names in Stellenbosch will be found on the edge of the pavements - just to confuse the visitors !!!
From Cape Town Internation Airport, take the N2 Highway in the direction of Stellenbosch/ Somerset West Continue along the N2 until Exit 33 ( Baden Powell Drive / Stellenbosch ) Turn left towards Stellenbosch and continue on the R310 until the T-junction. At the T-junction turn right. After approx 2.5 kms you will pass through a set of traffic lights with the headquarters of Stellenbosch Farmers Winery on your right. At the next set of traffic lights turn right into Dorp St. A Shell garage is on the corner. Continue up Dorp St, through a set of traffic lights and at the first pancake ( small, flat circle in the road) turn left into Meul St ( Mill St ). A coffee shop called 'The Mill Coffee Shop' is on the corner. At the next traffic circle turn right into Plein Street. Continue along Plein Street into Van Riebeeck Street passing through 2 four way stops. Pass the University grounds on your left and go straight forward through the next 3 way stop (the Boland College is on your right) At the fork in the road ( a willow tree and telephone box stand in the fork ) Take the left hand fork into Jonkershoek Road. SUMMERWOOD is 200 metres further on the right hand side - number 28. Just ring at the gates. You have arrived at a very special guest house!!
