Description

It is situated in Wilderness Heights behind the Wilderness Village and bordering the beautiful Touw River Valley and Wilderness National Park. A location perfect for hiking, riding, bird watching or simply relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

It has 3 luxury Chalets carefully positioned as to offer maximum privacy. Two have king size beds and the third offers twin single beds ? all are extra length. Linen is the finest Percale cotton.

The chalets have ceiling fans for balmy nights, and heaters as well as electric blankets for chilly winter nights. All have stocked bar fridges and satellite TV.
The bathrooms en suite have showers and baths ? all with large picture windows offering spectacular views of the valley and Outeniqua Mountains.

There is also a central "lapa" with a bar, lounge area and dining room, all surrounded by spacious decks overlooking the swimming pool.

Full breakfasts are served either in the dining room or on the deck (weather permitting). Light lunches are available for those wishing to stay and relax.

The lodge is fully licensed and offers a small but good selection of wines, beers and spirits.

Porcupine Pie Guest lodge is 30 minutes from George airport, 45 minutes from Knysna and an hour from Oudshoorn. It is close to all the championship golf courses the Garden Route has to offer.

ACCOMMODATION

The lodge comprises three luxurious double chalets, all within easy walking distance of the lapa, but carefully placed so as to offer guests total privacy.

All the chalets have extra length kingsize beds. Heaters and electric blankets are there to take the chill off cold winter nights and ceiling fans to cool the chalets on balmy summer nights.

Chalets have stocked bar fridges and colour television with satellite TV. All bathrooms offer both baths and showers. Each chalet has a large private deck - so guests wishing to stay at the lodge during the day have the choice between the privacy of their own deck or the more sociable lapa deck and swimming pool.

On the estate there are spectacular walking trails through numerous vegetation types – Cape Fynbos, forest, riverine gorges and open grasslands ensuring that the birdlife is both varied and prolific.

Experience the freedom of exploring Wilderness by horseback with horse riding into the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains. For the somewhat less adventurous enjoy the many Mountain biking and hiking trails that are suitable for all fitness levels - Wilderness provides the perfect escape where one can rejuvenate the spirit and enjoy the natural splendour of the Garden Route.

And after an energetic morning, there is no better way of relaxing than a picnic at the river and a quick dip in the refreshing rock pools.

The lodge has been custom designed with guest privacy and comfort at the top of our priority. We offer three individual chalets, and a central “lapa” with a bar, lounge area and dining room, all surrounded by spacious decks overlooking the swimming pool. Intimate dinners are offered each evening in the lapa or on the deck overlooking the scenic splendour of Wilderness. The lodge is North facing and is usually sunny and warm – even in winter.

Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge is 10 minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from George airport and 45 minutes from Knysna and Oudshoorn. It is close to all the championship golf courses and activities the Garden Route has to offer.

Directions

EITHER From N2 turn into Wilderness Village, follow road past Protea Hotel to Stop at T-junction. Turn left into Heights Road and follow road up into Wilderness Heights for 3.8 km until you reach Stop sign at “Old George / Knysna Main Road” OR As you drive out of George along Courtenay turn left to Saasveld – continue past Saasveld along Old George / Knysna Main Road until you reach turn-off to Wilderness. THEN From that intersection, proceed along gravel road for 1.6 km in direction of Knysna (Hoekwil) until you reach sign on the right hand side for Ten Mile Lane (Tien Myl Laan). Turn into Ten Mile Lane and proceed for 3.4 km (the last 2.4 km on concrete strip road) until you reach Porcupine Pie Guest Lodge
